Alpha Bah

Alpha Bah is currently the Regional Adviser for Statistics at the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) in Dakar, Senegal where he leads efforts to support African countries in strengthening education data systems and monitoring Sustainable Development Goal 4.

At the time of GPE's case study on the education management information system (EMIS) in The Gambia, Alpha Bah was the head of the EMIS and information and communications technology (ICT) units under the Planning Policy Analysis and Budgeting Directorate of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education of The Gambia.

Alpha is one of the EMIS experts in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and has taken a leadership role in crafting EMIS norms and standards as well as conducting EMIS peer reviews.

He was also a resource person for the Association for the Development of Education in Africa working group on education management and policy support (ADEA-WGEMPS) and led the EMIS capacity assessment for 17 states in Nigeria.
