Empowering Educators Through Play: A Recap of the Early Childhood Teacher Training Program
From May 5th to 9th, 2025, the Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II Education Fund, in partnership with Ashesi University and the Early Childhood Unit of the Ghana Education Service, hosted a week-long Early Childhood Teacher Training Program. The training took place at Ashesi University’s Jackson Hall 221, and brought together over 40 passionate educators from schools across Berekuso and the South Akuapim District.
The aim was simple but powerful: to equip early childhood educators with hands-on skills in play-based learning, early literacy and numeracy development, and classroom engagement strategies all aligned with Ghana Education Service Standard-Based Curriculum.

Community, Connection & Commitment
One of the highlights of the week was a special dinner hosted by Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II, giving participants the chance to interact directly with the founder and patron of the fund. His message reinforced the importance of investing in early childhood education and supporting teachers who play a vital role in shaping young minds.
Appreciation
We extend our deepest gratitude to our facilitators, volunteers, Ashesi’s IT and communications teams, and all who made this program a success. We are also grateful to our donors, including those whose contributions helped make the training and transportation possible.
📈 What’s Next?
With increased confidence in using play-based methods, participating teachers are expected to bring renewed energy and creativity into their classrooms. The Fund looks forward to tracking progress through follow-up engagement with schools, and continuing to support capacity building for teachers in the district.
